Idris Elba Meets Ghana’s Veep, Discusses Using Crypto Network, Stella XLM to Pay Creatives

While the specifics of the proposal remain undisclosed, the Vice President said on Facebook and X that the project would be implemented later this year.

Celebrated British actor, Idris Elba, has been in talks with Ghana’s Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, proposing opportunities to have Ghanaian creatives paid using crypto network, Stella XLM.

While the specifics of the proposal remain undisclosed, the Vice President said on Facebook and X that the project would be implemented later this year.

“Given Ghana’s relatively advanced system of digital payments, the new system is expected to be launched in Ghana later this year. My thanks to Idris Elba for his commitment to the development of the African creative arts economy,” DR. Bawumia said.

Elba who recently partnered with Stellar Development Foundation to provide Stellar blockchain solutions to financial inclusion problems in West Africa said he’s curious about the ways “crypto’s technical plumbing might help address financial inclusion issues in West Africa.”
