The Member of Parliament for Dome-Kwabenya constituency, Sarah Adwoa Safo, has declared that she will not run as an independent parliamentary candidate in the upcoming elections as speculated after losing her seat in the just-ended parliamentary primaries of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
In response to recent media speculations about her political future, Adwoa Safo, a three-term Member of Parliament, has issued a statement reaffirming her commitment to the NPP and the party’s goal to secure victory in the upcoming December 7, 2024, elections.
Addressing concerns arising from the parliamentary primaries in Dome-Kwabenya held last Saturday, she emphasized his unwavering dedication to the values of the NPP and the collective effort to secure a win alongside H.E. Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
“As a true party person and a three-term Member of Parliament, I am cognizant of the fundamental principles that underpin the Danquah-Dombo-Busia tradition, where internal competition and subsequent cooperation remain our guiding light,” she stated.

She further clarified any misconceptions about her political intentions, stating unequivocally, “I have no intention whatsoever of running as an Independent Candidate in the upcoming December 7, 2024, Presidential and Parliamentary elections and, for that matter, at any point in the foreseeable future.”
Safo took the opportunity to express gratitude to the constituents of Dome-Kwabenya, particularly the hard-working Polling Station Executives, for the honor and privilege of representing their interests in Parliament for the past 12 years.
“It has been a real honor and privilege working for and with you on matters and issues that border on our common interests, and for which I do not take lightly. From the depths of my heart, I say Thank You,” she remarked.
Looking ahead, Miss Safo affirmed her commitment to collaborative efforts with the party’s leadership in the constituency over the next few months. This collaborative approach aims to unite party members and work collectively towards campaign goals to maximize votes for both Parliamentary and Presidential candidates. Additionally, in Parliament, the focus will be on executing government business expeditiously.
In the past several months, Adwoa Safo has come under serious public scrutiny since returning from her long stay abroad after neglecting her parliamentary and ministerial duties. Unofficial reports have suggested that she suffered a miscarriage while abroad and had to take some time off. However, her random social media appearances in which she was seen vibing to trending songs did not sit well with a lot of Ghanaians.
