Kasoa: Sakawa Teenagers Kill Boy, 11

Two teenagers are in the grips of the Kasoa Divisional Police Command in the Central Region for allegedly killing an eleven-year-old boy for rituals that would enable them to become rich.

Details are emerging about how the suspects, Felix Nyarko and Nicholas Kini, aged 16 and 17 respectively, reportedly lured the victim, Ishmael Mensah, to an uncompleted building where they used a concrete object to hit his head, killing him instantly.

The two, according to sources, then dug a hole where they hid the body with the intention of recovering it at night so they would remove the parts needed for the rituals.

According to Daily Guide, the two teenagers had earlier visited a fetish priest in the Volta Region for money rituals. The fetish priest told them to bring human parts for the rituals.

Mother’s Cry

The mother of the victim, who wept uncontrollably, said the two teenagers are well-known to her and had been frequenting her house for food.

“They all know each other very well. They come here at will. Those who killed my son even eat in this house. I often serve them food and they all eat. I don’t know what happened. Why my son?” she said.

Key Witness

The man who discovered the body of the boy said the scene was noticed by his son whom one of the suspects had sent to call the victim for them, saying, “My son told me that while they were playing video games earlier, one of the suspects asked him to call the deceased for them, which he did. He did not know their intention.”

He said later on, “My wife told me one of my sons had told her that someone has dug a hole and put something there. I asked who dug the hole and I was told it was the suspects. When we got to the scene, I saw two cement blocks. I removed the blocks, got my shovel and began digging. After a while I saw blood and then the hand of a lifeless body,” he said, adding, “I brought the body out and my wife identified the body as Ishmael.”

He added, “Based on the information from my son, I went after the boys and got one of them, after which I informed people to come around.”

Police Confirmation

Sergeant Isaac Evans Ettie, Deputy Public Relations Officer of the Central Regional Police Command, who confirmed the story to DAILY GUIDE, said on Saturday April 3, 2021, around 10:15 am, the Kasoa Divisional Command received a distress call that there was a ritual murder at Coca Cola near Lamptey Mills, a suburb of Kasoa.

He said personnel proceeded to the crime scene and saw a young boy wearing blue shirt and red/white pair of shorts lying dead in a pool of blood in an uncompleted building.

He said that their initial investigations showed that, the boy was invited by Felix Nyarko and Nicholas Kini, who are also neighbours, to the uncompleted building and  in the process used a club and cement blocks  to hit him, killing him instantly.

“Suspects after their action, buried the deceased in the uncompleted building awaiting his removal in the night for ritual purpose, when they were grabbed,” he said, adding that, “the body of the deceased has since been deposited at the Police Hospital morgue awaiting post-mortem whilst suspects have been detained to assist police with investigations.”
