Kcee Enlists One Republic for “Ojapiano” Remix

Ojapiano is a fusion of the traditional Igbo instrument Oja and Amapiano, a subgenre of house music that emerged in South Africa in the mid-2010s.

Kingsley Chinweike Okonkwo, better known as Kcee, has released a remix of his hit song “Ojapiano” featuring OneRepublic, an American music band.

The Afrobeats star announced the collaboration via Instagram on Friday, March 15, 2024.

The post stirred mixed reactions as some fans showed support for the project with others deeming the collaboration unnecessary.

OneRepublic, known for their pop rock style, added their melodious voices to complement Kcee’s vocals.

Ojapiano is a fusion of the traditional Igbo instrument Oja and Amapiano, a subgenre of house music that emerged in South Africa in the mid-2010s.

The Amapiano rhythm is a hybrid of deep house and jazz music characterized by synths, log drums and percussive basslines.
