Former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta is set to assume the role of Senior Presidential Advisor on the economy, new reports say. Additionally, he is set to serve as the President’s Special Envoy on international investment and capital markets.
In a similar fashion, former Environment, Science, Technology, and Innovation Minister, Kwaku Afriyie, is also expected to be appointed President Akufo-Addo’s Special Envoy on climate.
Ofori-Atta, who served as Finance Minister for seven years, was relieved of his duties on Wednesday, Feb. 14, leaving behind a legacy as the longest-serving finance minister in Ghana’s Fourth Republic however unpopular his tenure must have been.
His close ally, Mohammed Amin Adam, the current Minister of State at the Ministry of Finance, has assumed the position of substantive Minister for Finance following his departure.
