American rapper Kendrick Lamar has released a new music video for his diss track aimed at Canadian rapper Drake.

The audio version of “Not Like Us,” released on May 4, 2024, during the ongoing rap feud between the Compton rapper and Drake, caught the attention of many rap enthusiasts who praised Lamar’s ability to produce a catchy hit song in response to Drake’s initial rebuttal that mocked Lamar’s ability to produce hit songs.

The video, directed by Kendrick Lamar and Dave Free, was released on July 4, 2024. By Friday, July 5, 2024, it had amassed over 16 million views and was the number two trending song on YouTube. Excerpts from the video made several references to Drake. In one scene, Lamar can be seen hitting an owl mascot with a disclaimer: “No Ovhoes were harmed during the making of this video.”

The owl represents Drake’s October’s Very Own (O.VO) record label logo, and Kendrick’s actions towards the Owl, symbolise his lyrical attack on the O.V.O boss, Drake. The “Money Trees” rapper also included his wife and kids dancing in the video to refute Drake’s claims of Kendrick having a strained relationship with his family.
