President Akufo-Addo has reaffirmed his government’s commitment to ensuring that the killers of investigative journalist Ahmed Hussein-Suale are held accountable
The undercover journalist met his untimely death in January 2019, when he was shot dead in Madina, a suburb of Accra, while heading home.
Speaking at the end of the 3rd African Media Convention in Accra on May 17, 2024, President Akufo-Addo assured the protection of the country’s democracy and the efforts of law enforcement agencies to seek justice for Hussein-Suale.
He pledged to safeguard the country’s democratic principles and support law enforcement agencies in finding the perpetrators of the gruesome murder of Ahmed Suale.

“I assure you that Ghana’s image as a beacon of democracy on the African continent will not be diminished in this election year. It will be fully safeguarded as will the efforts of the law enforcement agencies to bring the killers of Ahmed Swale to book continue no matter how long it takes,” Mr. Akufo-Addo said.

Ahmed was a lead investigator with the Tiger Eye P.I. group. He played a key role in the exposé of the grand corruption at the Ghana Football Association (GFA) titled “Number 12”.
The investigation resulted in the removal and lifetime ban of former GFA president Mr Kwesi Nyantekyie.
The reason behind his tragic killing remains unknown as the Ghana Police say they are still searching for the killers.
Five years on, the family has expressed dissatisfaction with the pace of the investigation by the security agencies.
The three-day Media Convention focused on the theme: “Enhancing Freedom, Innovation and Environmental Sustainability in a Dynamic Media Landscape.”
