“Koofi ooo Kofi” is the first EP of the Fante rapper who is constantly releasing singles. The title, “Kofi oo Kofi” is a reference to Kofi Kinaata’s birth on a Friday, as Kofi is a name given to boys born on Friday in Ghana.
The record features seven tracks that highlight Kofi Kinaata’s distinct Fante sound and range, with production credits going to a number of producers.
Born Martin King Arthur, Kofi Kinaata was raised in Effiakuma, a residential town in the Western Region of Ghana. He began his musical career by competing in radio rap contests. He eventually made his way into mainstream music after he was signed to the HighGrade Family record label by Samini. He has won the Ghana Music Awards Songwriter of the Year award three times in a row.
