Let’s Work to Make Accra a Modern City – Elizabeth Sackey to AMA Assembly Members

Succeeding Mohammed Adjei Sowah, who served as Accra Mayor from 2017, Madam Sackey says her main agenda to build a new Accra is paramount and in doing so she needs the support of all inhabitants to make it happen.

Elizabeth Kwatseo Tawiah Sackey, the newly appointed Mayor of Accra, is confident that Ghana’s capital city, Accra, can be better under her leadership.

Succeeding Mohammed Adjei Sowah, who served as Accra Mayor from 2017, Madam Sackey says her main agenda to build a new Accra is paramount and in doing so she needs the support of all inhabitants to make it happen.

“My vision is to build a new Accra; a model city whose inhabitants have a shared responsibility in making it modern,” she said.

Elizabeth Kwatseo Tawiah Sackey said this after the assembly members of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) unanimously confirmed her as the Chief Executive Officer of the Assembly.

Madam Sackey added that, “Together, we shall confront all our challenges head-on, taking into consideration our strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats.”

She secured 30 ‘YES’ votes from all the Assembly members, representing a hundred percent endorsement in an election conducted by the Electoral Commission (EC) on Thursday, October 7, 2021.

The new AMA Chief Executive expressed appreciation to the assembly members for the endorsement and said, “There is a lot of work to be done; therefore, this is a clarion call for all to come on board so that we can achieve our goals. I will need your unflinching support.”
