Mahama Attends Memorial Mass for Late President Henri Konan Bédié in Abidjan

John Mahama pays final respect to Bédié in Abidjan.

Former President of Ghana John Dramani Mahama attended the memorial mass for the late Ivorian President Henri Konan Bedie in Côte d’Ivoire.

In a Facebook post on Saturday, May 25, Mahama expressed his honour in paying his final respects to the late Ivorian leader.

Mahama extended his condolences to late President Bédié’s family, expressing solidarity with them during their time of mourning.

“I had the privilege of attending a memorial mass for the late Ivorian President Henri Konan Bedie. It was an honour to join President Alhassane Ouattara in commemorating a leader who played a significant role in the history of Cote d’Ivoire,” John Mahama stated.

Former Ivorian President Henri Konan Bédié passed away at the age of 89 in a hospital in Abidjan in August 2023.

Bédié succeeded Felix Houphouet-Boigny, Ivory Coast’s post-colonial founding father, and served as president from 1993 until he was overthrown in the country’s first-ever coup in 1999.
