The Majority Chief Whip and MP for Nsawam-Adoagyire Constituency Frank Annoh Dompreh has been convicted of contempt by the High Court in Accra, a report by Star FM has said.
The MP was charged with contempt following allegations that he obstructed the work of Court Bailiffs and Police Officers during an attempt to execute a court order relating to disputed lands, the report noted, although details of the case are not immediately known.
Annoh-Dompreh was however not sentenced to prison but rather fined 600 penalty units amounting to GHc7,200 on Tuesday.
“The Court presided over by Justice Abena Oppong Adjin-Doku convicted him after he pleaded guilty previously to the offence. The Court emphasized that as a prominent figure in society, he should have known better. However, the Court opted not to impose a custodial sentence.”
