The Majority Leader of Parliament, Alexander Afenyo-Markin has been sworn in as the new Board Chairman of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG).
Afenyo-Markin was appointed on Tuesday by President Akufo-Addo and sworn in later today by outgoing Energy Minister Matthew Opoku-Prempeh.
He becomes the third person to occupy the Board chair position after long-serving leader Keli Gadzekpo resigned in March and the exit of Herbert Krapa, who is now Minister of State at the Energy Ministry.

Markin, a trained lawyer, had previously served as the Chairman of the Ghana Water Company and currently also serves as the third Deputy Speaker of the ECOWAS Parliament. His expertise in energy is yet unknown.
