Effective July 1, 2024, MTN scratch cards will be deactivated and cannot be used to top up customer accounts.
On May 23, 2024, Chief Sales and Distribution Officer Samuel Addo announced that customers can redeem the value of their scratch cards by transferring the credit to their accounts at any MTN Customer Experience Centre.
This initiative is a key aspect of MTN’s commitment to driving digital leadership in Ghana, closely aligning with the government’s vision for a digitally empowered nation.

According to Mr. Addo, the phase-out of scratch cards offers environmental sustainability by reducing waste, promoting digital usage, and enhancing the efficiency of customer service operations.
“We’re phasing out scratch cards to protect the environment, empower customers to use digital methods, and enhance our customer service,” Mr Addo said.
MTN is urging customers to switch to digital recharge options like MoMo, Ayoba, and the myMTN app, to recharge their accounts.
Customers who recharge using Mobile Money will receive a 50% bonus, supporting a cleaner environment.
