Naana Opoku Agyemang, Mahama Vow to go After Corrupt Political Opponents

This will not be the first time the NDC or even Mahama has announced intentions to prosecute "corrupt" opponents. While in opposition, the NDC has been vociferous about alleged and proven acts of graft that have plagued this government.

In her acceptance speech as running-mate of the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Prof. Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang has promised that should her party be voted into power in the upcoming elections, their government will make it a point to prosecute persons in this current administration for corruption.

“John (Mahama) and I have agreed that whoever has participated in the plunder of the state must be held accountable and my friends, this is not a threat, it is a promise. It is a promise which is premised on the wishes of our citizens across the political divide and it is hinged on the principle of accountability,” she said on Wednesday, during an official unveiling as running-mate to NDC presidential candidate, John Mahama.

This will not be the first time the NDC or even Mahama has announced intentions to prosecute “corrupt” opponents. While in opposition, the NDC has been vociferous about alleged and proven acts of graft that have plagued this government.

Members of the party have particularly accused President Nana Akufo-Addo of shielding “corrupt” ministers and party men, and at times called him nicknames like the “clearing agent.”

“It is unacceptable that President Nana Akufo-Addo has consistently put pressure on state anti-corruption institutions by announcing clearance of appointees and companies that are under investigation for wrongdoing,” Mahama himself said in a Facebook post in January last year.
