The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has commemorated its 32nd anniversary with an event at its headquarters in Accra on Monday, June 10, 2024.
During the celebration, party leader and flag bearer John Dramani Mahama delivered a special message, urging members to adhere to the party’s foundational values and vision to foster stability and development in Ghana.

Mahama expressed gratitude to the party’s supporters, describing them as the backbone of the NDC. He assured them of the party’s steadfast commitment to its principles and the goal of creating a united, stable, and developed Ghana.
“Your unwavering support fuels our determination to work tirelessly towards these goals and create a brighter future for every Ghanaian,” he added.
The National Democratic Congress was founded in 1992 by Jerry John Rawlings, a former Ghanaian military leader who later became the country’s first democratic president.
Rawlings initially came to power in a coup in 1981 and ruled as a military leader until he transitioned Ghana to a democratic system in the early 1990s.
The NDC was established as a political party to participate in the democratic process, with Rawlings becoming its first leader.
The party has since played a significant role in Ghanaian politics, advocating for social justice, economic development, and national unity.
As the NDC celebrates its 32nd anniversary, the legacy of its founder and the enduring principles of Unity, Stability, and Development remain at the forefront of its mission, guiding its vision for Ghana’s future.
