“While the NPP has offered clarity on their plans for the industry, the NDC manifesto lacks a clear direction on addressing industry challenges.”
The Ghana Hotels Association is seeking more clarification from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Flagbearer, John Mahama, on the 24-hour economy as enshrined in the party’s 2024 Manifesto.
According to the NDC’s Manifesto should the party win power on Dec 7, it would support the hotel industry in operating 24-hour services.
In a press release the Association said “While we appreciate Mr Mahama’s intent to support the hospitality sector, we must emphasize that the majority of hotels across the country are already operating on a 24-hour basis.

“In light of this, we are seeking further clarification on how the hostel industry, which currently operates 24 hours, would specifically benefit from the proposed 24-hour economy initiative”, the release said.
The hoteliers stated that after reviewing the NDC manifesto, they noted a lack of detailed plans or specific policies that would directly impact their industry; pointing out that aside from a brief mention in the campaign highlights, no concrete measures have been outlined to explain how this promise would be implemented or how it would enhance the operations of the hoteliers.
“While the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has provided some clarity on their plans for our sector through their manifesto and subsequent engagements by Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the NDC manifesto falls short of offering a clear direction on how the party intends to tackle the challenges facing our industry”, the hoteliers said.
