Nico Williams has expressed his desire to join Barcelona this summer with the club’s interest in him increasing. Barcelona is said to be optimistic about signing the winger from Athletic Club, with a summer deal looking increasingly likely.
The Spanish international has become the focus of Barcelona’s summer transfer plans, with his contract hinting at a €55 million release clause.
However, rumors suggest Barcelona’s hopes of signing Nico Williams may be dashed, as Athletic Bilbao has handed him the No.10 jersey, previously worn by Iker Muniain. Williams switches now to No. 10 from the previous No. 11 for Athletic Bilbao’s new season.
He signed and donned the No. 10 shirt, previously worn by Athletic Bilbao legends including Iker Muniain and Ernesto in a video hinting at his commitment to the team for the 2024-25 season.

“The truth is that I am very proud to be able to wear this number and to make history like he [Muniain] has done”, Nico said, after receiving the numbered shirt.
Williams’ impressive performances on the left wing were instrumental in Spain’s Euro 2024 campaign.
