For the first time in Women’s World Cup history, three African teams made it through to the round of 16. African giant Nigeria, together with African champions South Africa and Morocco worked hard to represent the continent.
But the joy was short-lived as South Africa was beaten by the Netherlands in an exciting game, with South Africa creating great opportunities but not being able to convert those into goals when it counted.
Nigeria faces England on Monday, August 7 and Morocco will face an in-form France on Tuesday.
