Nigerian Actor Junior Pope Passes Away in Drowning Incident

His death was announced on Wednesday, April 10, by filmmaker Sam Olatunji, who noted that the actor died with three others after their boat capsized.

Nollywood actor, Junior Pope Odonwodo, popularly known as Jnr Pope has tragically passed away following a boat accident while en route to a movie shoot.

His death was announced on Wednesday, April 10, by filmmaker Sam Olatunji, who noted that the actor died with three others after their boat capsized.

Prior to the accident, Pope had shared a video on his Instagram page, showing his journey on the river, with the caption: “See me lamenting……the risk we take to entertain you; crossing river 9ja yesterday with no life jacket…..Na wahooo……. who does that?” he wrote.

His body was recovered and rushed to the hospital, where he was confirmed dead. The Delta State Chairman of Actors Guild of Nigeria, AGN, Emma Onyemeziem confirmed that the corpse has been deposited in the morgue.

Jnr Pope was a Nollywood actor, model, and television personality who was known for his roles in Wrong Initiation, We Meet Again, and Eye of the Eagle. He has amassed over 25 acting credits throughout his ongoing career.
