Controversial Nigerian cross-dresser, Idris Okuneye, known in social circles as Bobrisky, was released from the Kirikiri Correctional Centre on Monday, August 5, 2024, after a six-month incarceration.
In an interview with Lagos-based TV station GoldMyneTV shortly after his release, Bobrisky cautioned Nigerians to refrain from mutilating the naira notes if they did not want to end up in prison.
“Don’t spray money, unless you want to become a landlord in Kirikiri. It’s not just about serious crimes; even a minor offense like this can land you in prison,” he said.
Bobrisky was arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on April 12, 2024, for allegedly abusing the Nigerian naira notes, during a film premiere in Nigeria. The EFCC obtained footage of the social media influencer spraying wads of naira notes on the ground, amidst people who had convened at the film premiere.
