Lawyer and 2nd Deputy Constituency Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ejisu Constituency, Kwabena Boateng, has been declared winner of his party’s primaries that took in Ejisu on Saturday.
Boateng won by 393 votes, beating the other nine candidates who took part in the polls.
His closest contender was Helena Mensah, who secured 302 votes from the 1081 delegates who took part in the polls.
Other contenders like former GFA president, Kwesi Nyantakyi, who before the elections made headlines about his hospitalisation came in fifth place, securing just 35 votes.

Later this month, the Electoral Commission is expected to hold by-elections in the Ejisu Constituency. So far both the NDC and the APC have declared not to contest.

But Kwabena Owusu-Aduomi, a former MP for the area who ran on the NPP ticket in 2009 has said he would contest the seat as an independent candidate.
