The National Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) Stephen Ayesu Ntim, has been appointed the chairperson of the Board of Directors of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA).
It is not yet known when Mr. Ntim was exactly appointed, but he was sworn in on Tuesday, May 21, by Energy Minister, Mathew Opoku Prempeh.
“National Chairman of my beloved New Patriotic Party, Mr. Ntim is not new to leadership and therefore, I have no doubt that, he has what it takes to steer the NPA achieve its objectives for the benefit of all Ghanaians,” Opoku Prempeh said in a Facebook post about the appointment.
Stephen Ntim takes over from the previous Board Chair, Mr. Joe Addo-Yobo.
His appointment would not be the first time a member of the party leadership has been given a political appointment. Previous party Chairman,
Freddie Blay was appointed two consecutive times as Board Chair of the Ghana National Petroleum Commission (GNPC) since the government came to power in 2016.
