Accra, Ghana – In a move that will undoubtedly bring a little relief to thousands of young National Service Personnel across the country, the Management of the National Service Scheme (NSS) has announced the approval of a substantial upward adjustment in their monthly allowances.
The new allowance will see an increase from GH¢599.04 to GH¢715.57.
The decision was confirmed in an official release signed by the Deputy Minister for Finance, Abena Osei Opare. This comes as a result of an extensive series of engagements between the National Service Scheme, Fair Wages, and Salary Commission, as well as the Ministry of Finance.
The directive, issued by the release, explicitly instructs the Controller and Accountant-General to implement the new allowance levels immediately. This will ensure that National Service Personnel receive the increased allowances without any delay.

Furthermore, the release clarified that the adjustment will be retroactive from January 2023. As a result, all eligible National Service Personnel will receive arrears for the difference between the old and new allowance rates. This move is aimed at compensating the service personnel for any financial challenges they might have faced due to the delayed adjustment.
