As part of the smart school project, Ghana’s government intends to distribute 1.3 million tablets to students under the Free Senior High School policy.
The president also noted that in the next two years, 100 schools will benefit from the smart school policy.
The Education Minister addressing the students said the tablets are water resistant and will have solar-based batteries that last for eight hours. They come with four gigabytes of RAM and a 4-inch screen and run on quad-core two processors.
He also added that the first school will have ten smart boards.
“We are going to improve internet connectivity to your school. We are also looking at solar panels on your buildings. At least about ten classrooms will have smart boards. Eventually, when you become a smart school fully, it means all other classes will have a smart board”, the minister said.
