The Ghana Police has arrested six persons, including four students of the Presbyterian Boys Senior High School (PRESEC) for staging the kidnapping of a colleague from the same school.
In a statement on Friday announcing the arrest, the Police said one of the juveniles faked the kidnapping in an attempt to extort money from his parents to fund a trip outside the country.
“In the process, they demanded an amount of GHC 340 000 as ransom from the alleged victim’s parents. The investigation further disclosed that the juveniles together with the two others succeeded in collecting GHC 20, 000 of the total ransom demanded,” the statement added.
The adults who were arrested as part of the scheme are Isaac Kissi Adjei and Courage Teiko.
