On Wednesday, April 10, President Akufo-Addo and members of his government are set to launch a platform called the ‘Performance Tracker’ that would serve as an accountability check on infrastructure projects implemented since the ruling NPP took office 7 years ago.
“This government, after all, is the Digitalisation Government, and the man who has led the entire digitalisation process these past seven years, my indefatigable Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, Dr Digitalisation, the NPP’s excellent presidential candidate for the 2024 election, is coming up with what will allow everyone and anyone to check on every project being undertaken by the government without having to listen to the President’s message on the State of the Nation,” President Nana Akufo-Addo announced earlier in February during his State of Nations Address (SONA).
Developed by IT company Omni Strategies, the platform is already on the Google Play Store as a web application.
“Welcome to Ghana Gov Performance Tracker, your comprehensive guide to understanding and tracking government projects and performances in Ghana since 2017. Designed with transparency and accessibility in mind, this app serves as an informative and engaging platform for citizens to stay informed about governmental activities and progress, ” details of the application read on the Play Store.

The Ghana Gov Performance Tracker has been touted as this government’s way of staying accountable to the public, especially since it championed some of the most ambitious promises ever during the election campaigns that brought it to power.
“It is going to change everything, and all the arguments will be settled that nobody has dissipated the resources of this country; a lot of infrastructure rollouts have happened under President Akufo-Addo, and that is critical,” said Samuel Atta Akyea, NPP MP for Abuakwa South in an interview with Asaase Radio earlier in February.
But despite the government’s praise of its performance on infrastructure, there’ve been reports about abandoned projects, including some of its flagship projects such as the One District and One Factory (1D1F).
In a report on March 31, 2023, independent media enterprise, The Fourth Estate, highlighted how newly built 1D1F factories were abandoned, with some employing far less than the government had claimed.
This government has also been accused of failing to complete old projects by the previous administration, even though President Akufo-Addo had assured three months before the elections in 2016 that his government would not abandon any project on the basis that “it was started by a political opponent.”
