President Akufo-Addo to Commission 320 New Police Homes

President Nana Akufo-Addo is set to commission a 320-unit housing project for the Ghana Police Service at the National Police Training School in Tesano, Accra, on Tuesday, July 23, 2024.

Initiated in 2018, the housing project includes seven blocks of two-bedroom apartments and thirteen blocks of three-bedroom apartments, each containing sixteen units. Additionally, the complex features a multipurpose sports facility, a kindergarten, and other supportive amenities.

In a press release dated July 19, 2024, and signed by Elvis Adjei-Baah, the Public Relations Officer of the Ministry of Works and Housing, the Ministry highlighted the project’s importance.

“The completion and utilization of this housing project will augment the government’s other housing programmes that are being rolled out to increase the residential stock of public service workers,” the statement read.

The Ministry emphasized that this development marks a significant effort by the government to improve living conditions for public service workers and address the housing shortage in the country.

“This project will reduce accommodation challenges in our sprawling cities and ultimately bridge the national housing deficit, which stands at 1.8 million housing units,” the release noted.

The new housing units will provide essential accommodation for police personnel, enhancing their welfare and enabling them to perform their duties more effectively.

The commissioning ceremony will be attended by senior government officials, members of the Ghana Police Service, and stakeholders in the housing sector. The event is expected to be a significant milestone, showcasing the government’s dedication to meeting the housing needs of its citizens.
