On Wednesday, May 8, 2024, Prince Harry attended a service at St. Paul’s Cathedral, where his parents, King Charles and Princess Diana, were married in 1981, to mark the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games.
The tournament was founded in 2014 by the Duke of Sussex to help wounded and sick military veterans recover through sporting events. The first Invictus Games took place in September 2014 at London’s Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
As part of the commemoration, the Duke of Sussex read from the Bible, while “Homeland” movie star, Damien Lewis, recited William Ernest Henley’s poem “Invictus.” The Dean of St. Paul’s, Reverend Andrew Tremlett, led the service.

There was speculation in the media whether Prince Harry would spend time with his father, given the ongoing tensions between the prince and the royal family. However, due to scheduling conflicts, King Charles and Prince Harry were unable to meet on the occasion.
The King, who underwent cancer treatment this week, hosted a garden party at Buckingham Palace.
Prince William, brother of Prince Harry, and his wife, Kate Middleton, did not attend the ceremony.
However, Harry’s uncle, Charles Spencer, Princess Diana’s younger brother, attended the Invictus Games anniversary service in support of his nephew.
The Duke of Sussex will mark the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games by attending various events in London.
Prince Harry will be in the United Kingdom for three days before joining his wife Meghan Markle for a trip to Nigeria. His visit to Nigeria will include cultural activities, which will strengthen Nigeria’s position at the games and increase the possibility of hosting the event in the future.
