Nigerian Afrobeats star, Rema, abruptly left the stage during his performance at the 2024 Dreamville Festival in North Carolina due to sound and technical issues.
Rema was performing his hit single, ‘Calm Down’ on the second day of the festival at Dix Park in Raleigh, but paused midway to complain about the poor sound before getting off the stage.
Feeling sabotaged, the “Calm Down” hitmaker advocated for equal sound quality for African artistes as their Western counterparts on international stages.
“Hold on, there are too many sound issues. It’s messing up my whole performance. I’m seriously not feeling this sh*t,” he said. “I’m representing Africa, this is too messed up. If the sound cannot be perfect for every artist that gets on this stage… Africa is in the house and you are messing sh*t up?”
