According to the Company’s attorney, Dennis Card, Sean Kingston used his celebrity status as a recording artist to acquire items that he never paid for.
“He is stealing the property itself, he has a standardized script that he gives people, which is that he’s a recording artist, and that he wants to purchase these things, but he never pays for anything. He gets the stuff, and that’s the end of the story. He does it over and over and over,” Card explained.
Robert Rosenblatt, an attorney representing the rapper and his mother, stated that he is looking forward to addressing the issue in court and believes it will be resolved successfully.
“We are aware of some of the allegations being made against the two. We look forward to addressing these in court and are confident of a successful resolution for Shawn and his mother,” Rosenblatt said.
The rapper later addressed the arrest in a post on his Instagram reel.
“People love negative energy! I am good and so is my mother!….my lawyers are handling everything as we speak,” Kingston wrote.
Kingston is on a two-year probation period for trafficking stolen property.
