“Before then, there a number of important tasks that lie ahead of us, one of which will be commissioning the Nana Agyeman Prempeh I International Airport in Kumasi, and naming the recently commissioned airport in Tamale the Yakubu Tali International Airport,” he added.

What Will Mahama Say?

Earlier this month, former President Mahama was seen expressing strong sentiments against renaming of public institutions and structures by the NPP while addressing party supporters, chiefs, and students in Zuarungu in the Upper East Region. He was heard to have labeled the NPP as notorious in renaming institutions.

“All the NPP knows how to do is name universities that people have built. After NDC builds a university, then they will give it the name of one of their heroes or people,” Mahama said.

“We are going to rename the universities. Ghana has many heroes, and not only the heroes of the NPP tradition,” he added.
