National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for Okaikoi Central, Baba Sadiq, has advised creative industry stakeholders to blame the government over the regression of the creative arts industry, instead of Deputy Minister for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mark Okraku-Mantey.
In a recent interview on Hitz FM with DJ Slim, Baba Sadiq, was asked about the contributions of entertainers in political positions to the entertainment industry. In response, he urged the public to stop holding the Deputy Minister for Tourism, Arts, and Culture solely responsible for the current challenges facing the creative industry.
“People should just stop this thing and stop picking on Mark specifically because they have issues with him, they have to pick on the government,” he said.
Baba Sadiq stated that people should rather direct their frustrations at President Nana Akufo-Addo, who has failed to fulfill his promises to the industry, rather than blaming Mark Okraku-Mantey, who alone is incapable of meeting their expectations.

“He can’t do anything. He’s a deputy minister. People like to pick on him, but they should talk to the president directly. And say, ‘Chief, in the past 8 years, you’ve made twenty-one promises to us. You’ve not been able to deliver this,” he stated.
Baba Sadiq further criticized the Ghanaian government for its failure to implement measures that would support and boost the creative industry, attributing the industry’s struggles to the government’s inability to explore ideas and visions that can put the creative industry back on its feet.
“There’s no strong will by the government to say, ‘We are looking to develop the creative industry. We’re looking to enable the creative industry. These are the big vision, bold ideas, and things we are looking to do.’ Those things are not there,” Baba Sadiq noted.
