Supreme Court Dismisses NDC’s Petition to Place Injunction on Peter Amewu

The Supreme Court of Ghana has in a unanimous decision quashed the injunction placed on Energy Minister John Peter Amewu preventing him from being sworn-in as Member of Parliament for Hohoe Constituency.

In the 14 page judgment read by Justice Appau, the Energy Minister  has nothing to do with the inability of the people of  SALL to vote in the December 7, 2020 election.  The ruling stressed that the matter is purely a matter between the Electoral Commission and the applicants.

The ruling was 5-0 in favour of Attorney General Godfred Dame who filed the motion at the supreme court. This means that Peter Amewu can be sworn in as the duly elected Member of Parliament (MP) for the Hohoe Constituency.
