TGMA 2024: Board Reviewing Petitions; Feedback to be Announced Soon – Robert Klah

In an exclusive interview on TV3’s Newday, Klah disclosed that the board has completed reviewing the petitions from the artists and will soon provide feedback to the public.

The 2024 edition of the Ghana Music Awards scheme currently known as TGMAs, has been met with scrutiny and controversy, with petitions raised regarding nominations after the nominees were announced.

In response to these concerns, Robert Klah, the Public Relations Officer for Charterhouse, the organizers of the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMAs), has revealed details about petitions from some artists regarding nominations.

In an exclusive interview on TV3’s Newday, Klah disclosed that the board has completed reviewing the petitions from the artists and will soon provide feedback to the public.

“There have been a number of petitions made to the board. Some are not in the public space because the artistes have not come to share it. The information has gone to the board so they are doing their review. Feedback to the public will come out soon,” he said.

The one-week window, which opened on March 29 to enable artists with concerns to petition the TGMA board, has now been officially closed.

Klah assured that only petitions with validity will pass the scrutiny of the board.

“Sadly, some people did not provide enough information and others did. Some people have come back with petitions using current streaming numbers when we cut off the streaming numbers on December 31 which means they have added like three months to it,” he said.

“That is why we are saying that if you believe there is any merit and you make your submission if we go back to the system and look into everything and there is a reason why some change should be made, it will be made but if it isn’t the board will stick to its word,” he added.

Artists like Amerado and Sista Afia expressed concerns after the 2024 TGMA nominee list was announced. They believed that their songs deserved nominations, and as a result, other artists joined them in petitioning the TGMA board.
