The owner of a truck that caused a collision with the new Diesel Multiple Unit (DMU) modern trains undergoing a test drive on the Tema-Mpakadan railway line on Thursday has been sentenced to six months in prison.
41-year-old Abel Dzidotor was arrested yesterday after the incident and arraigned later today at a circuit court on charges of careless and inconsiderate driving, causing damage, and failure to provide a driver’s licence.

The incident only resulted in minor damages to the driver’s cab section of the new modern trains, the Ministry of Railway confirmed in a statement.

“Despite the immediate application of the emergency braking system, the train was unable to come to a complete stop before colliding with the vehicle,” the statement said.
