Two young men escaped with their lives in an incident at Teshie near Accra on Wednesday when the entire roofing of a building under construction fell and trapped them just before midday.
A sudden and intense windstorm that hit just before a brief downpour is blamed for the incident.
Earlier, the Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMet) issued a warning about incoming thunderstorms and rains of varying intensity that will affect the southern part of the country.
The expansion project, aimed at adding an extra floor to a commercial building that houses ADB Bank and other businesses near St. Anne Catholic Church in Teshie, was nearing its final stages.

Officers from the Police and Fire Service were present at the scene to coordinate traffic control.
According to GMet, these weather conditions are attributed to a rainstorm currently situated over the borders of Togo and Benin and a separate rainstorm observed over the Gulf of Guinea.
A similar incident occurred in Accra a few weeks ago, when strong winds and a torrential downpour caused significant damage to several vehicles.
