Tyla Beats Rema to Become Most Streamed African Artiste on Spotify

This achievement is a major milestone for Tyla's music career and establishes her as a rising star in the world of Afrobeats.

Grammy award-winning musician, Tyla, has dethroned Rema to become the African artist with the most monthly listeners on Spotify.

Tyla’s popularity has soared since she released her debut album on March 22, 2024. With over 7 million streams, her album has attracted a devoted fan base. She currently has over 30 million monthly listeners on Spotify, surpassing Rema’s 29.7 million.

Spotify’s Artist, Label and Partnerships Manager in South Africa, Jodie Tabisher, disclosed this in celebration of Tyla’s self-titled debut album. This achievement is a major milestone for Tyla’s music career and establishes her as a rising star in the world of Afrobeats.

The album is supported by singles: “Water”, “On and On”, “Truth or Dare” and “Art”, in addition to the promotional single “Butterflies “and the 2022 single “To Last”.

Tyla Laura Seethal rose to international fame with the release of her 2023 hit single “Water”, which entered the top ten charts in sixteen countries including the United Kingdom and the United States. She won a Grammy Award for Best African Music Performance in 2024.
