The ride-hailing app, Uber, on Tuesday launched a new feature that will provide users with estimated wait times and prices for rides in over 10,000 cities in advance. This update aims to simplify summer travel planning, coinciding with a surge in airport traffic.
Uber’s new tool also allows you to book your ride anywhere in the world.
Uber will now rely on recent historical data from both on-demand and reserved trips to estimate wait times and prices. Customers can view prices for specific routes at the current time but the feature won’t allow them to adjust the settings to check wait times and costs for different times of day.
To access the tool, users can open the app, tap ‘Where to?‘ and select ‘Search in a different city’. Additionally, riders can book reservations for future trips, according to Uber.

The new update will start rolling out to some users on Tuesday 16th July 2024 and will become available for all customers in the coming days.
Very soon, you will be able to plan and book your ride in advance from Accra, even if you’re heading to Kumasi, Lagos, or New York. Plus, you can estimate your fare, wait time, and travel costs from the comfort of your current location, without having to wait until you arrive at the airport to book your ride.
