Uganda Women MPs Push For in-house Beauty Salon

Ugandan female MPs are asking for an in-house beauty salon to be opened at the country’s Parliament as a way of boosting their participation in parliamentary activities.

The Parliament recently opened a gym in-house, but female MPs, who make up 33% of the legislative House argue that vigorous exercise routines leave their hair “disorganised”, making few of them eager to participate in physical exercise.

“For the sake of ladies, probably we could have a salon established. Because you look at us, we take time to prepare ourselves. My hair and nails and whatever are part of the woman. What I am really saying is that we ladies can come early, spend more time in the salon and then the house,” said Beatrice Anywar, a Minister of State Minister for Water and Environment on Thursday.
