The Ghana Police has apprehended the Member of Parliament for Asutifi South, Hon. Collins Dauda for his alleged involvement in a recent disturbance in the area.
The police announced the arrest through their official X(formerly Twitter) account today, May 12. According to them, the six-time member of parliament is said to have been part of disturbances that arose during the Limited Voter Registration at Kukuom yesterday, May 11.
“The Ghana Police Service has arrested Hon. Alhaji Collins Dauda, MP for Asutifi South, for his alleged involvement in the disturbances which occurred at Kukuom in the Ahafo Region during the ongoing Limited Voter Registration Exercise, on Saturday 11th May 2024, ” a police statement said.
They also indicated that the disturbances resulted in the injury of one person who’s currently receiving treatment, while they pursue the whereabouts of other suspects.

“One person sustained injury and is currently receiving treatment at the hospital. Police are in pursuit of other suspects in connection with the incident,” they added.

Relatedly, the police have also interdicted three of their staff for similar disturbances at a center where the limited voter registration exercise is taking place.
The affected Policemen, Inspector Michael Addo, G/CONST. Eric Boakye and G/CONST. Michael Gyan are accused of failing to perform their proper duties “as officers in charge of security at the Electoral Commission Office at Adugyama in the Ashanti region.”
This incident according to the Service also happened on May 11, 2024.
