Watch: Massive Turn Out at ‘A Country Called Ghana’ Film Premiere

The much-awaited premiere of “A Country Called Ghana,” a movie by Kwadwo Nkansah, popularly known as Lilwin was met with a massive turnout on Friday night, May 17, 2024.

The premiere hosted at the National Theatre was graced by Ghanaian artistes including Medikal, Kalybos, Guru, Dr. Cryme and DopeNation.

Other actors and dignitaries who were also spotted at the film premiere included Ahuofe Patri, David Osei, Victor Osuagwu, Akrobeto, Aaron Adatsi, Roger Quartey, head of productions at UTV and Kofi Akpaloo, the leader of the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG).

The premiere attracted a large crowd of Ghanaian film lovers, who filled the Theatre and left with positive feedback after watching the two-hour comedy-packed film.

“A Country Called Ghana” is a Ghanaian and Nigerian collaboration which was directed by Fiifi Ghabin and executive produced by Kwadwo Nkansah Lilwin.

The film is a comic portrayal of the Ghanaian culture and resilience against Western influences during colonial times. Lilwin plays the role of a local translator to English-speaking foreigners in a village with illiterate indigenes.

“A Country Called Ghana” features some of Africa’s most famous actors, including Ramsey Nouah, Charles Awurum, Victor Osuagwu, also known as Awilo Sharp Sharp, Paa George, Sweet Mimi, and Lilwin, among others.

The premiere will continue on May 25 at the KNUST CCB Auditorium in Kumasi, with the final performance scheduled for June 1, 2024 at the Eubsett Hotel in Sunyani.
