In 2022, a similar fire incident occurred at the same location, sparking discussions about the unsuccessful evacuation of the residents.

The Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Ghana National Fire Service, Alex King Nartey, said while the cause of the fire remains unknown, an investigation is still ongoing.

“We had a distress call on Wednesday at 5:30 pm that there is fire outbreak at Kwame Nkrumah Circle. Our fire station at Kwame Nkrumah overhead was deployed to fight the fire as other stations also joined to fight the fire. We were able to contain the fire and finally douse the fire around 11 pm,” Nartey said.

The PRO added that no casualty was recorded and cautioned the general public to be mindful of the dangers of fire.
