The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) and partners commemorate World Food Safety Day today June 7, 2024, on the theme, “Food Safety: Prepare for the Unexpected.”
The event, marking the sixth celebration of World Food Safety Day, aims to raise awareness about the importance of food safety throughout the food value chain.
“Marking the sixth celebration of World Food Safety Day, this event aims to spotlight pressing food safety issues and the necessity of vigilance in food handling. Food consumed under unsafe conditions can pose serious health risks, making food safety a paramount concern,” an excerpt of the statement reads.

According to the FDA, the event will take place from June 19-30, 2024, including a public education campaign, a half-day conference and master class, a food product exhibition and workshop, radio and TV engagements, and a quiz competition for students.
The aim is to disseminate food safety information, promote dialogue, and education, and encourage actions to prevent, detect, and manage foodborne illnesses.
Their partners include the U.S. Agency for International Development, the World Health Organization, the Food and Agriculture Organization, World Food Program, among other stakeholders across the food value chain.
