YOUTH EMPLOYMENT: YEA graduates 10,000; Enrolls Another 10,000

The Agency introduced the Skills Training Programme in October 2022, transitioning from traditional short-term employment modules to more sustainable, long-term skill-building initiatives. This strategic shift aims to develop a more resilient workforce capable of meeting the needs of the Ghanaian economy.

The YEA is committed to providing top-notch training and starter packs to all successful applicants.

The Youth Employment Agency (YEA) in a fashion reminiscent of the late Krobo Edusei’s famous statement, “Shawcross in, Shawcross out”, has graduated 10,000 young adults in various vocations and is enrolling another batch of 10,000 to train.

“Shawcross in, Shawcross out” was a term used by the late Interior Minister in the Convention Peoples Party (CPP) Government of Kwame Nkrumah to deport foreigners deemed undesirable by the state.

Those deported under the slogan went to their home countries with long drawn faces. In the YEA module, those going home do so beaming with smiles and having hope for the future.

YEA’s statement calling on Ghanaian youth to apply for the next training session says after the resounding success of Phase 1, during which thousands of young Ghanaians were equipped with essential skills and tools for the job market, the Agency is thrilled to announce the start of Phase 2 of the Skills Training Programme.

“In Phase 1, we saw many lives transformed. Our beneficiaries have mastered various artisanal professions and are now entering the workforce with confidence, ready to contribute to Ghana’s growth. The feedback has been amazing, with many starting their businesses or securing jobs in their chosen fields”, it states.

The YEA prides itself on its commitment to ensuring that every successful applicant receives top-notch training and the necessary starter packs to kickstart their ventures.

The Youth Employment Agency was established under the Youth Employment Act 2015 (Act 887) to empower young people aged 15-35 through skills training and internships for the transition from unemployment to employment.
