Newly appointed Black Stars Coach, Otto Addo, has revealed a 26-man squad in preparation for Ghana’s friendlies against Nigeria and Uganda in Morocco.
This would be their first since the horrendous exit from the AFCON 2023 group stages in Côte d’Ivoire and a possible capability test for the new gaffer.
The squad boasts of few debutants; call up of Kumasi Asante Kotoko’s Frederick Asare as well as goalkeeper Akologo who plies his trade in Bolivia, and Côte d’Ivoire born Right to Dream academy graduate, Mohammed Diamonde among others.
In an interesting twist, Akologo’s call up to the senior team invokes interesting concerns as he’d been called up to the Bolivia national team already.

Scott Geelan, a sports analyst, has revealed that the goalkeeper’s call up to the Black Stars is nothing short of a hoax aimed at creating an impression of good optics for the mangers of the national team. In his view it reeks of sham.
In a tweet, he said, “There is no decision to make, Akologo is in the Bolivia camp already. This call-up was a sham call (to show they’ve seen him imo), highlighting that in spite of some positive steps taken with Addo’s return & the performances of the U20s, there is still much to improve on.”
