The remix video to the Afrobeats Song, “Sugarcane,” by Ghanaian Afrobeat artiste, Camidoh, has garnered over 100 million views on YouTube, the first Ghanaian song to achieve that.
The “Sugarcane” remix video is currently the first music video by a Ghanaian artiste to achieve this feat on YouTube. The video shot in Ghana, Accra, dethroned Sarkodie’s 2014 “Adonai” video featuring Castro, which boasts 97 million views and was previously the most-watched music video in Ghana.
Ghanaian cinematographer, Rexford Kyei-Sarkodie, better known as Rex, shot and directed the four-minute music video. Rex has filmed numerous music videos for Ghanaian artists, including the remix of “Touch It” by Kidi and Tyga, “Legbegbe” by Stonebwoy, and “Never Carry Last” by DJ Vyrusky, which features Kuami Eugene and Mayorkun, among many others.
