Fisheries and Aquaculture Development Minister, Mavis Hawa Koomson says she may consider legal action against the President of the Ghana Journalists Association over a directive to blacklist her media activities.
People close to the Minister who is also MP for Awutu Senya East in the Central Region, are alleged to have assaulted a journalist during her vetting in Cape Coast ahead of the NPP Primaries. This led to the GJA announcing the media boycott.
But Hawa Koomson in response said the GJA needs to reconsider that decision, while also emphasising the absence of evidence implicating her in the incident.
“I don’t think the GJA has conducted a thorough investigation into the matter before issuing the blacklist against me.

“The GJA President promised to send me the footage of the incident, but until now, I have not heard from him. I am challenging him to provide evidence of the assault proving that I was behind it or to apologize to me. If not, we will meet in court,” she said yesterday after her election by party delegates in the NPP Primaries.
