The National Democratic Congress’ Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has revealed evidence linking president Akufo-Addo’s family to a $34.9 million ambulance spare parts scandal.
This development comes after Ablakwa exposed the scandal on Monday, July 22, and subsequently filed a petition with the Office of the Special Prosecutor on Tuesday, July 23, 2024.
The new scandal involves the approval of a $34.9 million deal for ambulance spare parts, which was awarded to Service Ghana Auto Group Limited despite damning findings by the Auditor-General, including procurement breaches and inflated invoices.
Mr Ablakwa also alleged that former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta approved the deal and instructed the release of $10 million to the company.

However, his investigation has allegedly uncovered that Service Ghana Auto Group Limited, the company at the center of the scandal, has ties to President Akufo-Addo’s daughters, Gyankroma and Edwina Akufo-Addo.
Documents obtained by Ablakwa show that a key director of Service Ghana Auto Group Limited, Stephen Okoro, is also a close business partner and associate of the president’s daughters.

“Intercepted incorporation documents reveal that a key director of Service Ghana Auto Group Limited by name Stephen Okoro is apparently a very close business partner and longtime associate to two daughters of President Akufo-Addo,” Ablakwa said in a tweet on X July 24, 2024.
The names mentioned have yet to comment on the allegations.
